Unistrut Floors
By using tailor-made, non-adjustable steel pedestals and continuous steel
stringers, the Unistrut Floor gives exceptional load bearing ability,
great longitudinal rigidity and continuous edge support to the removable
floor panels. It is thus particularly suitable for use where high point
loads must be catered for, or where a cavity depth in excess of 1000mm
could give rise to flexing or instability.
Should particular areas be subsequently subjected to additional loads, extra pedestals or stringer
members can be retro-fitted to the grid.
Pedestal Construction
The pedestals are made from Unistrut steel channel, cut to length and secured top and bottom to special
brackets by means of Unistrut's unique spring nut system. The lower brackets are secured to the sub-floor
by means of plugs and screws, or a service proven adhesive, while the upper brackets are secured to the
stringers by more spring nuts.
Stinger Construction
Unistrut steel channel also forms the load bearing grid members, or continuous stringers, which support
the panel edges. On the closed upper face of each stringer in an inverted "T" section PVC moulding,
which locates and cushions the removable panels.
Panel Construction
Unistrut Floors employ exactly the same removable panels as are described in Gamma Floors. Dimensions,
construction and coverings are identical in every detail to those of 600mm x 600mm Gamma panels.
Services
The Unistrut spring nut assembly used to marry the pedestals and the stringer can also be used to locate
and secure mechanical, electrical and fire control services to the grid structure. Such services can be
quickly and easily installed at the time the floor is installed, or added later, with no need for
secondary supports.
